AAJA’s JCAMP

AAJA’s JCamp is a national multicultural journalism program for high school students. The six-day training camp brings together culturally diverse students from across the nation to learn from veteran journalists and leading media executives. JCamp participants will receive hands-on training and produce multiplatform news packages for the program’s news site, JCamp Live. High school students with a strong interest in all forms of journalism are encouraged to apply. All costs to attend this program, including airfare, campus housing and meals, are covered by AAJA. To apply, submit an online portfolio of your journalistic work and a personal narrative of 500-750 words. This opportunity is open to high school seniors whose journalism teacher is a member of JEA. NCSSLE: Beyond the Books
The National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE) is seeking youth interested in sharing their perspectives on how to build safe, engaging, and healthy learning environments. Participants will co-create recordings for educators and adults using their digital media of choice (i.e., video, podcast, digital story, blog) during the spring semester. Deadline: Sunday, March 23 The Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference is an in-depth, five-day summer program for 51 high school journalists (one from each state and the District of Columbia) who “dream, dare and do.” Be the one to represent your state and join students from around the country at an exclusive, free Washington, D.C., journalism experience like no other. Selected students will also receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
