CLARIFY — Youth Reporting Internship Thank you for your interest in our CLARIFY (The City Limits Accountability Reporting Initiative for Youth) program! We are excited to announce that applications are now open and we invite New York City high school students to apply. The summer 2024 internship is a six-week program beginning July 1. The deadline to apply for the Summer session is May 24. The fall 2024 internship is an eight-week program beginning October 15. The deadline to apply for the Fall session is September 9. You may apply for both programs. Due to the limited number of spots, students can only participate in one of the sessions.
High School Journalism Institute The Oregon State University campus is hosting this year’s program from July 20-27, 2024. This summer program allows students to report, write, and photograph a news story with guidance from a professional editor. Students are provided with both lodging and meals on campus. Application due May 10th. Paid Summer Writing Workshop In this Summer writing workshop, centered around community, Students will participate in writing lessons, discussions, and group activities. All participants will complete at least one story by the end of this six-week program. Application due May 6th. The Nation Student Journalism Conference The New School in Manhattan is hosting the Puffin Nation Fund Student Journalism Conference. Students can apply to receive a free ticket to this conference. Students who attend will have the opportunity to participate in discussions about; the history, role, and craft of journalism through workshops, discussions, seminars, video screenings, breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and social activities. Application due May 1st. Poetry in Response to Current Events Students k-12 can now enter the Seventh Annual Fighting Words Poetry Contest! Students can write in any language responding to the themes and central global issue of the story you chose. Winners are given a cash prize! Application due May 12th. 3rd edition of Journalism Publishing Across Media This opportunity is for all student photographers and journalists! Submit your work for the chance to be published in the print and online edition of Journalism: Publishing Across Media, 3e textbook, used in high school classrooms across the U.S. Application Due April 19th Youth Journalism and The 2026 World Cup The Centre for Sport & Human Rights Invites Teens, who will be 15-17 in September 2024, And who are interested in sports, the media, and social issues to apply to this Youth Media Journalism Initiative. Teens will experience; training on reporting the human rights dimensions of sports, Opportunities to submit stories for publication, and interactive sessions with leaders from the media industry. Application due April 19th.
