Tomorrow: Rally for public school funding

Council Member Rita Joseph, who has been a key champion in the City Council for youth journalism, is holding a rally tomorrow to stand against proposed federal funding cuts to public education.

Press Pass NYC: How to get published as a teen journalist
Wednesday, July 23 @ 5-7PM ET @ CUNY Newmark
This teen-led workshop will cover the importance of professional publishing, how to write a compelling article pitch, and how to effectively reach out to editors.

Documented: Bilingual Essay Contest for Chinese High School Students
Submission Deadline: Friday, August 1

Chinese students are invited to submit an essay on the theme, “A Tradition I Hope Never Disappears." Winners will be honored at a public award ceremony in Flushing in late August and will earn up to $500 and publication. The contest is open to high school students who are Chinese immigrants or children of Chinese immigrants and currently reside in NYC or Long Island.

The Financial Times: Student University Mentors
Application Deadline: Monday, August 4
The Financial Times is seeking Student University Mentors to support, motivate, and lead a team of high school Student Advocates. Mentors will act as a bridge between the Financial Times Schools Team and high school Student Advocates globally, helping make the Financial Times more accessible and relevant to young people. This is a remote, part-time position open to college students in New York or California.
