DCTV’s Youth Media Fellowship offers a free media arts training program for NYC youth designed for beginner to advanced filmmakers aged 14-18. Participants will receive hands-on instruction in camera operation, interviewing, editing, and many other skills necessary to be effective storytellers. Join BDC founder and photojournalist Mike Kamber for a three-week course that will introduce students to the basics of photojournalism. Attendees will learn how to cover news events, seek out and shoot stories, while also learning how to review and critique work. Pulitzer Center Writing Contest

AllSides is accepting articles that explore bias, misinformation, and under-the-radar issues for its student journalism contest. All students from grades K-12 are welcome to enter, and three winning pieces will be awarded $500. C-SPAN StudentCam Documentary Competition

Youth Environmental Press Team supports middle and high school journalists writing about the climate crisis and other environmental issues. They offer paid opportunities to publish student reporting and currently have paid leadership roles open that involve writing, editing, outreach, fundraising, and social media. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
