Call for Service Providers

2026-27 Interest Form

The NYC Youth Journalism Coalition is seeking experienced professionals and organizations to support 30 Journalism for All high schools during the 2026–2027 school year, with the possibility of renewal for 2027–2028. Service providers will play a key role in helping schools launch, strengthen, and grow student-run news publications.

This contract opportunity is open to newsrooms, youth-media nonprofits, higher-education partners, and other organizations with demonstrated expertise in journalism instruction or media production. Qualified individuals with relevant skills are also encouraged to express interest.

Scope of Work

Working in partnership with each school’s journalism teacher and student journalists, providers will offer tailored support by:

๏ Guiding publication development through coaching and content planning.

๏ Offering training that equips students to deliver a quality news product.

๏ Providing technical assistance on platforms for publishing, content creation, and audience engagement.

๏ Helping build newsroom systems, workflows, and student editorial leadership.

Key Details

๏ Providers are expected to spend approximately 70 hours supporting each school over the course of the 2026–27 school year. (This amounts to about 7-8 hours per month, on average.)

— At least 20% of the total hours need to take place in person at the school.
— Other hours may be used on resource development, virtual coaching, and remote technical assistance.

๏ Providers receive up to $5,000 per school, with the opportunity to work with multiple schools.

๏ Full proposals, including budgets, will be requested from selected candidates.
